Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must be enrolled full-time (9+ credits) in an approved academic program (see below).
Must maintain good academic standing and meet the enrollment requirements.
Must commit to working 20 hours per week as part of the assistantship/fellowship.
Accepted Academic Programs:
The candidate must be a fully matriculated student accepted into a Master’s or Doctoral Degree program in the areas of: Psychology, Human Services, Counseling, Higher Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
Position-Specific Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Manage the Interactive Screening Program (ISP) screening tool to provide online mental health screenings to students who historically underutilize counseling services (i.e. monitoring email messages from students who have endorsed some distress and suicidal thinking).
Engage students to seek help from CAPS.
Provide Campus Connect (suicide prevention) training program to students, staff, and faculty members to increase skills and efficacy in responding to students who are experiencing psychological distress.
Provide Mental Health Screening to student-athletes and other student groups on campus.
Assist the Director in research activities, including data collection and analysis.
Assist CAPS in outreach and program activities in promoting mental health awareness and suicide prevention.
Administer the pre-screening questionnaire form (Initial Contact Form) to students on the telephone or in-person who seek counseling services at the CAPS
Schedule appropriate level of counseling services for students based on the pre-screening questionnaire form (initial Contact Form).
Provide administrative front-desk coverage.
Other duties as assigned by the Director.
Required Qualifications
The candidate must be a fully matriculated student accepted into a Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Psychology, Human Services, Counseling, Higher Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Must be detail oriented and have the ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality.
Compensation & Benefits
New GA Tuition Remission:
$8,750 per semester covering tuition only.
New GA Stipend (Fall through Spring)
$4,000 (Year 1)
This position is offered for one academic year only—Fall 2025 and Spring 2026—provided the student maintains full-time enrollment of at least 9 credits each semester.
