Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be enrolled full time (9+ credits) in an approved academic program (see below).
Must maintain good academic standing and meet the enrollment requirements.
Must commit to working 20 hours per week as part of the assistantship/fellowship.
Work assignments must align with the student’s academic program and professional development.

Primary Responsibilities
Assist in the development of communication strategies that promote safety awareness, emergency preparedness, and public engagement.
Create and distribute educational materials (digital and print) related to safety topics and departmental initiatives.
Support the management and content planning for the department’s communication channels, including social media, newsletters, and the website.
Help organize and promote public events, awareness weeks, and training sessions.
Track and report analytics on outreach impact and engagement.
Contribute to video projects, campaign branding, and story development to highlight officer-community interactions and public safety efforts.
Required Qualifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with marketing and engagement tools, including social media platforms and email campaigns.
Basic skills in design platforms (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite, etc.).
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in public communication, higher education, or outreach roles.
Skills in video editing or short-form video content creation.
Comfort speaking with and presenting to student or community audiences.
Interest in public safety, crisis communication, or community relations.
Compensation & Benefits
New GA Tuition Remission:
$8,750 per semester covering tuition only.
New GA Stipend (Fall through Spring)
$4,000 (Year 1)
This position is offered for one academic year only—Fall 2025 and Spring 2026—provided the student maintains full-time enrollment of at least 9 credits each semester.
