Director, IT and Network Systems
WTTW (Chicago PBS) and WFMT (classical music radio station) are seeking a full-time Director, IT and Network Systems. The IT Director will lead the delivery of Information Technology services across WTTW/WFMT. This includes future strategy and planning, IT system architecture, security process, user and system configurations, as well as management of hardware and software updates. The position is responsible for the day-to-day IT work, help desk, and trouble ticketing. The position develops and configures IT solutions that support enterprise-level systems and media operations. This includes IT cyber security, interconnection with our enterprise and broadcast systems, business solution management, database structure and backups, and cloud applications. Responsible for disaster recovery process documentation, business continuity planning, as well as credential and authentication process development and system monitoring. The position requires strong leadership capabilities, excellent communication, deep technical expertise in IT infrastructure and cybersecurity considerations, and an organized ability to develop and administer all IT processes and documentation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage, maintain, and oversee the IT infrastructure (on-prem and cloud-based), desktop and mobile technologies, security configuration, VPN logging, help desk, trouble ticketing, vendor and staff connectivity.
- Manage network systems, data management, telephony interface, log-in processes, overall daily operations, and system inventory process.
- Strong Knowledge and ability to manage end point protection systems, EDR, Active Directory, domain assignments, DNS, host controllers, IP assignments, routers, switches, allocation tables, segmentation, security features, VPN configurations, and staff/vendor rules related to connectivity.
- Coordinates technical solutions with HR and other departments for on-boarding and off-boarding of staff.
- Work closely with the Managed Service Provider to support the Virtual Machines and storage databases.
- Ensure data backup strategy, frequency, and restore process with proper design, and that they are happening.
- Capture and create documentation on all network storage drives, their purpose, health and size allocations.
- Ensure the performance, availability, and security of core IT systems and services.
- Align infrastructure and security initiatives with organizational goals and timelines.
- Manage and support timely software updates for servers and local PC’s.
- Identify and implement new technologies and technical infrastructure.
- Represent the IT function in cross-functional meetings with staff and vendors.
- Troubleshoot and provide design for all IP-based technologies and systems.
- Collaborate daily with the overall team and contribute enthusiasm and a sense of urgency to accomplish goals.
- Keep the server room clean and organized, perform other duties as assigned.
- Manage data connection to PBS, CentralCast, and data providers such as Comcast.
- Provide training on IT functions with vendor partners and staff on hardware and software.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Strong understanding of IT architecture, infrastructure, cloud, VM systems, DNS configuration, data backup, EDR security, jump boxes, VPN control and logging.
- Knowledge of endpoint security, active EDR systems and configuration.
- Proficient in networking design and management of enterprise systems at a media company, including network storage, data backup, routers, switches, RAID, cloud applications, Multifactor Authentication, VPN, and industry standards such as ITIL,NIST,CISSP.
- Ability to operate a highly functional IT help desk.
- Hands-on experience identifying, scheduling, and installing software patches with fallback/recovery considerations.
- Ability to lead several projects simultaneously with various stakeholders.
- Ability to document systems and configurations.
- Demonstrable strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to iterate on upcoming directives and initiatives, putting together actionable solutions.
- Ability to make progress in ambiguity, forging ahead.
- Availability and willingness to work non-standard shifts as needed.
EXPERIENCE: 10+ years of management experience as an IT Director, Manager, or Department leader.
EDUCATION: Degree in IT, IS, or related management field.
