Applicants must be enrolled full-time (9+ credits) in an approved academic program (see below).
Must maintain good academic standing and meet the enrollment requirements.
Must commit to working 20 hours per week as part of the assistantship/fellowship.
Work assignments must align with the student’s academic program and professional development.

Description
The GA’s primary role is to assist the Director with tasks involving planning, development, promotion, and assessment of wellness initiatives.
The position offers the opportunity to gain experience within higher education administration, facilitating student experiential, academic, developmental, and health-related needs; data collection and assessment; emergency response planning, strategic planning, and fiscal operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
Work with staff of the Department of Student Wellness and other key administrators, faculty, and students to help facilitate wellness initiatives, objectives, and outcomes
Facilitate workshops to students addressing a range of topics, especially bystander intervention, affirmative consent, and healthy relationships
Assist with creating, planning, executing, and follow-up for small- and large-scale events
Support SOAR Guide program by delegating tasks, overseeing projects, planning and facilitating communication, and serving as a resource to student workers
Contribute to email and social media account management
Support other offices within the Division of Student Affairs as needed
Other duties as assigned by Student Wellness staff
Required Qualifications
Fully matriculated student accepted into a St. John’s University graduate program (Master’s or Doctorate)
Ability to work independently and on a team
Effective detail-oriented and organizational skills to support proactive management of timelines to facilitate completion of goals and objectives
Comfortability with public speaking
Passionate about violence prevention
Demonstrates leadership skills
Must have the ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality
Experience working with culturally diverse populations
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Familiarity or demonstrates ability to learn Microsoft Office Suite (including Outlook and Teams), Canva, and Instagram
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency in facilitating trainings and workshops
Violence prevention-related experience
Knowledge of assessment and research protocols
Strong analytical skills
Basic knowledge of statistical programs (e.g. SPSS)
Compensation & Benefits
Tuition Remission:
$8,750 per semester covering tuition only.
Stipend (Fall through Spring)
$4,000 (Year 1)
This position is offered for one academic year only—Fall 2025 and Spring 2026—provided the student maintains full-time enrollment of at least 9 credits each semester.
