2026 Azure Cloud Engineering Intern

General:

The internship role will be part of the Cloud team in the Infrastructure Engineering and Cloud Enablement Tower, which supports enterprise cloud strategy, engineering, and reliability. This position is responsible for working closely with the Head of Cloud Architecture, participating in weekly intern cohort programming, and collaborating with other interns on a group project.

 

Role Description:

As the Azure Cloud Engineering Intern, you will assist the Cloud team in the planning and execution of Azure platform initiatives. This internship is hands-on and will give you exposure to enterprise Azure infrastructure, automation frameworks, and cloud governance processes. You will participate in design discussions, help implement cloud solutions, and support activities that influence technology decisions. Responsibilities include documentation, reporting, and technical analysis.

 

Functional Responsibilities:

  • Assist in deploying and configuring Azure resources such as Virtual Machines, Storage Accounts, App Services, and Networking components
  • Support Infrastructure-as-Code work using Terraform
  • Help develop automation using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and Azure DevOps
  • Support governance activities including tagging standards, cost controls, and policy enforcement
  • Contribute to operational playbooks, and documentation
  • Assist in troubleshooting cloud configuration and deployment issues
  • Work with cross-functional teams to support Azure platform initiatives

 

Job Knowledge Requirements:

  • Foundational knowledge of cloud computing (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS)
  • Familiarity with scripting/automation tools (PowerShell/Bash/Python)
  • Introductory understanding of DevOps concepts and Git
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills
  • Attention to detail and eagerness to learn enterprise cloud engineering

 

Qualifications:

  • Current students with an expected graduation date of May/June 2027
  • Preferred majors: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related fields
  • Coursework or hands-on experience in cloud computing or programming preferred
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure (e.g., AZ-900 coursework) is a plus
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
