Network Support Specialist

Network Support Specialist  

Hiring Range: $33.43 - $37.53 per hour

Full-Time, Non-Exempt                                                          

 

Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology, the Network Support Technician is responsible for implementing, troubleshooting and supporting all County technology through monitoring systems and providing help desk functions.  The Network Support Technician implements procedures to ensure data security and reliability and assists in the documentation and training of both hardware and software. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supports end users with technology hardware and software questions and requests by monitoring help desk, email, phone and web. Resolves and troubleshoots issues; evaluates requests for possible solutions and provides options to end-users and implements solutions.   Documents all completed work and systems.  Trains end users and support staff on implemented systems.
  • Monitors and ensures the reliability and security of systems and data.
  • Monitors applications utilized by departments. Manages user accounts and security on applications containing sensitive data. Installs updates to programs and databases used in the County.  Coordinates service windows between end users and vendors.
  • Monitors and maintains server infrastructure and network operating systems.
  • Maintains and supports specialized equipment and technology utilized by law enforcement personnel.  Coordinates technology between LOGIS and Sheriff’s Office to keep systems online and updated.  Provides support for Detention Center technology such as cameras, specialized software and data exchange systems.
  • Monitors, repairs and preventive maintenance on all hardware including servers, computers, printers, UPS, switches, network hardware and other assorted devices.  Troubleshoots, diagnoses and replaces failed hardware.  Implements replacement cycle policies to ensure hardware performs efficiently.  Configures computers and printers.
  • Manages mobile devices such as laptops, cell phones, tablets, and mobile hotspots.  Configures mobile devices to access County resources; maintains cellular service agreements and VPN connectivity to local and state networks.  Tracks and audits mobile technology allocations and assists end users with telecommuting and monitoring compliance with county policies.
  • Administers and configures VoIP phones, analog phones, software phones, headsets, voice mailboxes and phone numbers and maintains communication tools including email, instant messaging, internet, intranet, and phone system.  Manages accounts and software for accessing email and instant messaging.  Manages the County’s SharePoint intranet site. 

 

 

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security or a closely related field. 
  • 2 years of relevant working experience in providing hardware, software, network and technology support 
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to pass a standard background check
