Position Title: Transportation Support, Emerging Talent Intern
Hourly Rate: $19.00 (Undergraduate), $21.00 (Graduate)
All internship positions are onsite and require regular, in-person attendance at the designated work location.
OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT:
Transportation Support provides guidance to the Divisions and the Bus Command Center by ensuring our bus operators have the information and tools needed to provide safe and reliable service. The department partners with operational, technology, and training teams to develop tools, and process improvements that help bus operators provide a good customer experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This internship offers hands-on experience in administrative support, data management, and operational processes within a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will assist with organizing records, supporting project timelines, and contributing to process improvements.
- Organize and maintain digital and physical records.
- Assist in tracking project timelines and deliverables.
- Provide support for staff in developing and managing data across various databases.
- Collaborate with staff in creating processes and procedures to streamline operations.
- Provide analysis and reporting using databases and dashboards.
- Organize outreach events and materials for department programs.
- Collaborate on content development for newsletters and internal communications.
- Develop communication and presentation skills.
PROJECTS:
These projects will impact the MTA by streamlining workflows and ensure accurate, timely information for bus operations.
- Records and Database Management: Creation and maintenance of a database to track Notice of Liabilities for MTA vehicles.
- Analytics and Metrics: Develop and implement at least one process improvement to measure Notice of Liabilities metrics.
- Bus Rodeo: Collaboration on content development for newsletters and internal communications.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
- The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills.
- The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
- The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.
- Familiarity with Power BI is a plus.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA AND/OR matriculated in a graduate program in good standing with at least 2.8 GPA
- Major(s) Preferred: Computer Science/Information Systems, or Computer Information Technology, or related field.
