Program Overview
The 10-week Global Capital Markets (GCM) Internship places students on a specific front-office desk across our U.S. platform. High-performing interns may receive an offer to return as full-time Analysts in the GCM Rotational Program the following year. Students will be placed in one of the following areas:
- Sales and Trading
- Origination
- Securitized Products
- Financing and Prime Services
- Analytics and Research
The objective of the internship is to identify exceptional candidates for full-time opportunities. Summer Interns will have access to the Global Banking and Markets Learning Program – frequent interactive learning sessions led by our experienced professionals. Interns will also have access to our mMentoring program where students will be teamed up with a mentor who will serve as a guide for professional and personal development. What will my responsibilities look like? (varies by desk)
- Provide assistance to the Sales, Trading, and Structuring staff on the trade floor in the execution of their day-to-day functions
- Participate in research/strategy publications, earnings-call notes, and sector screens.
- Keep abreast of market information, economic releases, trends, and factors that affect market movement.
- Work on research projects as required
- Support daily desk workflow: market monitoring, pricing support, risk/PnL checks, and client-ready materials.
- Build simple tools and analyses in Excel and potentially Python/Java to automate reports, improve data quality, and visualize insights.
- Contribute to pitchbooks, investor updates, and new issue execution on origination desks.
- Assist with collateral analytics and documentation reviews in securitized products.

- Sales & Trading: Rates, Credit, EM, Repo, eFX, Commodities, Equity Derivatives
- Capital Markets Origination: Investment Grade DCM, Government Finance, Private Placements, Sustainable Finance
- Securitized Products: ABS/CMBS/RMBS, Warehouse Lending, Whole Loan Trading
- Financing & Prime Services: Prime Brokerage/Equity Finance, Fund Finance, Structured Solutions
- Analytics & Research: Credit Strategy, Equity Research, US Rates Strategy, GAFE
Full-time Rotational Program Eligibility
- All interns will be considered for the full-time rotational program based on performance over the 10-week program
- Interns recommended for the rotational program must complete an interview for admission into the program, organized for the final weeks of the summer program
- For STEM/quant focused interns only:
- Interns complete a brief Python benchmark during full-time conversion interviews (joins, rolling metrics, basic chart).
- Passing the benchmark confirms eligibility for quant/strats rotations if you receive a full-time offer.
Skills Profile
Baseline (required for all interns):
- Undergraduate or Graduate Degree to be completed between December 2027 and August 2028 in Business, Accounting, Science, Technology, Engineering, Economics, and Math, but all majors are welcome
- Proven record of outstanding achievement in academic and extracurricular activities
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
- Ability to overcome challenges presented by a constantly changing work environment
- Practical Python fundamentals (pandas data wrangling and plotting).
- Evidence of hands-on Python (coursework or small projects).
- Excel proficiency (lookups, pivots) and strong analytical curiosity.
- Clear written and verbal communication; professionalism and attention to detail.
- Interest in markets and understanding of risk and controls.
Preferred (desk-dependent):
- SQL and/or Power BI/Tableau; Bloomberg familiarity.
- For quant/strats: stronger Python (NumPy/pandas), Git/Jupyter, basic statistics/time series.
- For origination/research: corporate finance/accounting, strong slide writing, and data storytelling.
