Systems Administrator II

The Systems Administrator II supports and enhances the Tribe’s government and healthcare information systems by maintaining secure, reliable, and high-performing infrastructure and applications. This position serves as a technical escalation point and works closely with clinical and administrative staff to ensure continuity of operations. This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position with a schedule of Monday–Friday 8 am–5 pm OR Tuesday–Saturday 8 am–5 pm, with additional flexibility required as needed based on the operating hours of Jamestown Healthcare.

Key responsibilities include system monitoring, troubleshooting outages, supporting identity and access management, assisting with security and compliance (such as HIPAA), mentoring junior staff, and contributing to system upgrades and IT projects.

 

Essential Functions

Provide advanced technical and infrastructure support for EHR platforms, clinical software, imaging systems, and secure communication tools.

Administer, configure, and troubleshoot Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Windows Server, and endpoint management tools.

Act as Tier II/Tier III escalation for complex issues requiring deep technical analysis.

Respond rapidly to system disruptions, cybersecurity alerts, and urgent user requests.

Manage workstation imaging, deployment, and lifecycle.

Monitor system performance, logs, and endpoints; proactively recommend improvements.

Deliver superior customer service with clear, empathetic, and professional communication.

Collaborate with clinical informatics to support system upgrades and process improvements.

Assist with securing endpoints, servers, and networked devices; maintain data governance.

Maintain documentation for systems, configurations, and changes.

Mentor Systems Administrator I and IT Support Specialist roles.

Manage small to medium-scale IT projects with clear stakeholder communication.

Research and recommend new technologies to improve security and healthcare delivery.

Utilize scripting command line and/or PowerShell for administrative tasks.

Adhere to all JST policies and compliance standards (HIPAA, FISMA, etc.).

 

Requirements

Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on IT or system administration experience.

Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (Equivalent experience may substitute at 2 years of experience per 1 year of education).

Technical Skills: Highly proficient with Windows operating systems, M365, and troubleshooting networked environments.

Soft Skills: Strong communication, troubleshooting, and the ability to train users in application fundamentals.

License: Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel locally/regionally.

Background: Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background investigation

 

Preferred Qualifications

Previous IT experience in a healthcare organization.

Certifications: M365/Windows Server, CompTIA Network+/Security+/Server+, or VMware.

Experience with scripting languages and programming.
