Job Description:
SAMMA Prep Operator - Iselin, NJ
The ideal candidate is detail oriented, reliable, comfortable following specific workflows, and able to work carefully with physical media and metadata entry. Prior experience with broadcast archives, videotape formats, digitization, or media asset management systems is helpful.
You Will:
- Prepare videotape media for SAMMA digitization workflows
- Barcode tapes and boxes according to established Archives procedures
- Enter tape IDs station IDs dates and other identifying information into prep systems accurately
- Follow formatspecific prep instructions for Beta Umatic DVCPro and other videotape formats as needed
- Identify tapes with clear IDs datebased IDs or unknownmissing metadata and process them according to documented rules
- Assist with sorting organizing staging and moving tapes for digitization
- Maintain accurate tracking of completed prep work
- Support daily production goals by ensuring enough tapes are prepared for SAMMA robot operators
- Handle archival media carefully to prevent damage or misplacement
- Communicate issues clearly including unclear labels damaged tapes missing IDs or workflow questions
- Follow all safety handling and operational procedures in the archive workspace
- Required Qualifications

- Basic computer skills including data entry and use of web-based tools or spreadsheets
- Ability to read handwritten and printed labels and transcribe information accurately
- Ability to work independently once trained while escalating questions when needed
- Comfortable handling physical media boxes labels and barcode scanners
- Ability to stand, sit, bend, and move throughout the workday as needed
- Ability to lift and move boxes of videotapes typically up to approximately 25-35 lbs
- Effective Communication Skills, Customer Service Oriented, Teamwork and collaboration.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Strong intellectual curiosity and affinity to technology.
- Exhibits attention to detail in day-to-day activities along with Problem solving abilities.
- Technical curiosity and motivation to succeed. Well-rounded extra-curricular experiences, with demonstrated leadership.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher with a technology focus.
- Majors include Math, Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Cyber Security, and others.
- 3.0 GPA or higher.
