Athletic Compliance, Graduate Assistant

St. John's University -Athletic Compliance, Graduate Assistant 

The NCAA Constitution mandates that each institution shall be responsible for ensuring that members of the institution's staff, student-athletes and other individuals or groups representing the institution's athletics interest comply with applicable Association rules. The St. John's University Athletic Compliance Office seeks to carry out the following essential functions in a manner that promotes a positive compliance atmosphere and demonstrates an unwavering commitment to highest standards of ethical behavior.                                                                     

Primary Functions of the St. John's University Athletic Compliance Office:                                                                                      

  1. To educate St. John's coaches, student-athletes, recruits, staff and supporters regarding NCAA and BIG EAST Conference rules.
  2. To serve as a resource for coaches, student-athletes, staff, and supporters by providing accurate and timely interpretations of the NCAA and BIG EAST rules and regulations.
  3. To monitor the activities of the Department of Athletics and the University in a variety of critical areas such as ethical conduct, amateurism, recruiting, eligibility certification, financial aid, extra benefits, playing and practice season limitations, and division membership.

 

Primary Functions of the St. John's University Athletic Compliance Office, Graduate Assistant: 

  1. Annually prepare the data entry of the Academic Progress Rate report (APR) into the NCAA system for submission with the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance to the NCAA
  2. Assist the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance with preparing the Federal Graduation Rate (FGR) and Graduation Success Rate (GSR) Reports annually for submission to the NCAA
  3. Responsible for assigning senior athlete exit interviews through Teamworks for an annual overall exit interview survey report.                                                                 4.  Assist the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance with preparing the NCAA Sport Sponsorship and Demographic Report annually for submission to the NCAA.                                                                                                                                                                            Qualifications:
  • Describe the type of graduate degree program related to the Assistantship being requested:  Sports Management, Master of Professional Studies
  • Completed a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in:  varies
  • Experience required:
  • Microsoft Office
  • Preference:  a graduate assistant who is interested in pursuing a career in compliance in college athletics after earning their graduate degree

Compensation:

  • Graduate Assistantship- Full Tuition (9 credits in the Fall 2024, 9 credits Spring 2024)
  • Stipend in the amount of $ 4,000 for the 2024-25 academic year

Dates of Assistantship:

  • Start date: Fall 2024, End date: Spring 2025
  • Hours per week 20 (excluding breaks, university holidays, evenings, and weekends)
  • Students are only required to work when classes are in session.
