Under the direction of the Senior Director of Risk Services, this position is responsible for providing consultative services to ASCIP member districts in the following areas: risk analysis, risk management, risk transfer mechanisms, safety, loss control, and loss prevention. Utilizing expertise in these areas and having a general knowledge of insurance and coverage issues, the Consultant will assist members in the identification of exposures, program monitoring interventions, coverage determinations, contract review, and development and delivery of services and programs, all designed to mitigate risks for members and their students, staff, and the public. 

 

In tandem with the senior management team, this position will require you to work with a team of consultants overseeing the implementation of a comprehensive plan designed to reduce risk and losses for individual members and the ASCIP pool.

Essential Duties: 

• Meet with essential district staff in person on a regular basis • Advise and guide members on safety, loss control, risk management, and training services to members that are specific to school operations

 • Review contracts upon request to provide guidance on insurance and indemnification provisions 

• Provide guidance on general inquiries regarding general and auto liability, property, workers’ compensation, and cyber coverage programs 

• Assist members in implementing risk control strategies as identified by third parties

• Develop Risk Action Plans to orchestrate loss-driven risk services and monitor accomplishment of members’ risk management objectives Analyze member losses and develop strategies to address root causes 

• Research regulatory requirements (Cal-OSHA and California Educational Code) as required to provide guidance to members on risk management and loss control issues • Develop information for use in ASCIP Risk Alerts, Guidelines, and other documents or for inclusion in ASCIP newsletters 

• Assist members with obtaining information on ASCIP training programs Delivery of Risk Control Services 

• In consultation with ASCIP members, determine the most appropriate means for reducing losses and assign appropriate personnel and resources necessary to ensure efficient delivery of services. Coordinate the delivery of specialized risk control services, by outside vendors, to meet member needs 

• Review and follow up on all contract services to accuracy, ensure quality, timeliness and member satisfaction 

• Review charges for contracted services to ensure that invoices are within contracted rates 

• Provide direct oversight of assigned ancillary programs such as; ecertsonline, SDS online, Embark, etc. Communications and Customer Service
